Telefónica releases ballast in Latin America and reduces debt

When Telefónica, in November 2019, decided to turn its strategy around and focus on its four largest markets -Spain, Germany, United Kingdom and Brazil- grouped the rest of its assets in Latin America (the former subsidiaries in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay and Argentina) in the same business unit: Telefónica Hispam. In other words, it created a showcase for possible corporate operations - sale, mergers, IPO, etc. - around some subsidiaries that it does not consider strategic and that are already contributing to the reduction of the operator's debt, which decreased about 525 million up to 36,676 million euros in the third quarter.
