New business for Movistar. The telecommunications company offers since this week a private healthcare service for its clients, called Movistar Salud, focused on telematic medical care. The company has reported through a statement the launch of its new line of business, which it carries out jointly with the company Teladoc Health, an American multinational specialized in telemedicine.
The company chaired by José María Álvarez Pallete is thus entering a new market niche after having launched other businesses this year, such as home alarms, after its alliance with Prosegur. The telemedicine service that the telecommunications group is launching now will have a price of 10.95 euros per month for families of two adults and their dependent minors, or 6.95 euros in the case of personal plans, in addition to a fee of high of 10 euros.
Teladoc Health will be the one that will provide these services to Movistar clients, but they can contract it from the Spanish company’s own app. As explained by Telefónica, in three the services included in its private healthcare business. First, you will have a primary care medical consultation remotely, via video call or calls with a family doctor. The note explains that this includes the possibility of prescribing analytics, medical tests or issuing private electronic prescriptions.
Second, Telefónica customers who incorporate this rate will have a digital pre-evaluation of symptoms using artificial intelligence and a recommendation on the level of medical interaction required. Lastly, it includes online diet and exercise plans “designed by physicians and nutritionists with weekly diet emails, exercise guidelines, and support materials.” These services will also be designed for businesses.
The head of Strategy at Telefónica Spain, Óscar Candiles, has defended that the launch of the new business takes “a new step in our growth strategy, being more relevant in Spanish households”. “The service will bring the benefits of digitization to the health sector, always advantageous, but more so in these times when Covid-19 entails distance online, it could reduce trips to a center by around 70% doctor, “he said in the company statement.
