The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested on March 28 in Tarragona to a minor for allegedly having sexually assaulted a minor on the 19th in the city. As explained by the Catalan police, the same day also arrested another 10 minors for alleged sexual abuse to the same victim, but after declaring in police station the detentions were without effect, and sources of the investigation have ruled that it is of a group attack.
The minor was placed at the disposal of the specialized Prosecutor's Office, which released him without taking any precautionary measure. Also, another of legal age was arrested and transferred to the court of instruction 2 of Tarragona. After hearing the minor and two more witnesses, and in agreement with the public prosecutor, he also ordered his release without any precautionary measure for the man of legal age, as reported today by the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) through a statement.
All minors, including the victim, are young people protected by the Generalitat and live in a center very close to the place where the events took place, the Amfiteatre de Tarragona park. After a few days, the girl explained what happened to the people in charge of the center, who denounced it to the Mossos d'Esquadra.
Sources from the Directorate General for Childhood and Adolescence (DGAiA) ensure that the protocol provided in these cases has been applied and have confirmed to Efe that the 11 children were detained on March 28 at 10:30 p.m. same center of supervised minors where they reside. That same day, having knowledge of the complaint, "protocols of information and accompaniment to the alleged victim" were activated.
"The DGAiA is monitoring the case, we are collaborating with the Mossos d'Esquadra, the prosecution and the court to clarify the case," said the same sources, who have acknowledged that they have not had to adopt any measure of separation of the minors affected in the incident in the shelter where they live. The DGAIA has asked for "caution" when judging what happened and has not confirmed whether it is true that the minor who reported the sexual assault has fled the center "because it is minors".
