Uruguay’s head of state, Tabaré Vázquez, received the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, in Montevideo on Friday, at the beginning of a visit that will also lead the Spanish politician to meet the elected president, Luis Lacalle Pou.
The politician of the Popular Party (PP, center right) went to the Residence of Suárez y Reyes (presidential residence) shortly after 11.00 (14.00 GMT).
The Uruguayan president received Núñez Feijóo at the entrance of the residence, where they greeted each other warmly before accessing the interior of the enclosure.
Vázquez, of the Frente Amplio (FA) left-wing coalition, which has ruled Uruguay since 2005, is in the last month of his second term (2005-2010 and 2015-2020), since on Sunday March 1 he delivers the presidential band which will be his successor, Luis Lacalle Pou, of the National Party (PN, center right).
Núñez Feijóo will also meet with the president-elect at the headquarters of Todos, the sector of the PN to which Lacalle Pou belongs and where he is developing his transition tasks in the months after last November, when he won in the second round of the elections to Daniel Martínez, the official candidate.
The regional president also includes in his evening agenda two acts with the Galician community in Uruguay.
