Speed returns to Maspalomas – La Provincia

The Motoclub Podium is already fully immersed in the work of preparing for a new season of the Canary Cup of Speed in Circuit, which will begin on sunday july 26 on the long path of the Circuit of Maspalomas and that supposes the beginning of a calendar of four appointments in the speed specialty and one in the resistance one.

From the organization they hope to be able to carry out the race program for 2020 without further setbacks and with the good disposition of the institutions that support the test, health authorities and those responsible for the Maspalomas Circuit, which have adapted to the new health regulations, both in the track as in the access and in the procedures in which all the protocols have been reviewed.

After several seasons of uncertainty, frustration and disappointment, the eighth edition of the Canaries Speed Cup will start on July 26, with the support of the Motoclub Podium. The end of the 2018 season was interrupted by matters unrelated to the organization of the regional competition; In 2019, the attempt by the Canary Motorcycling Federation to take the reins of the championship failed, and in 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic forced the Motoclub Podium to delay the start of the competition.

From the organization a season is announced that will include five races, four in the speed specialty and one in the endurance specialty. Both the riders of the large displacement categories and the riders of the small displacement categories will meet on the grid of the Maspalomas Circuit. In addition, the possibility of including a category of new pilots, without previous experience in competition, is contemplated.

In this way, the Motoclub Podium opens its doors to fans of sports motorcycling who, without previous experience in competition, want to start this sport in a controlled environment and away from the dangers of open roads. For its implementation, a minimum enrollment of 10 pilots per test is required.
