The balance of the tourism sector in Spain, + difference between income from foreign tourists and payments from Spanish tourists outside the country, registered in October a surplus of 3,764 million euros, 0.7% more than the same month last year .
According to figures published today by the Bank of Spain, in the first ten months of 2018 the Spanish tourism sector has accumulated a surplus of 36,787 million euros, 0.7% less than the same period of 2017.
This decline is mainly due to the increase in spending by Spanish tourists abroad, which has grown by 12.3% compared to 2017, reaching 18,374 million euros in 2018, compared to 16,364 million last year at this time .
Revenues, which only compute the expenditure of foreign tourists in Spain, grew by 5.6% in October, compared to the same month last year, and accumulate a 3.3% growth so far this year, of 55,161 million euros.
If we include Spanish tourists who travel within the country, revenues during the first months of the year amount to 79,921 million euros, according to the tourist expenditure survey (Egatur) of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
During the month of October, more than 11 million foreigners visited our country, 4.6% more than in 2018, according to the survey of tourist movements in front of the INE.
