The Ministry of Health has notified this Friday 25,456 new infections of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the worst daily figure since the end of October and the second worst data of the entire pandemic. The death toll is 199 since yesterday. Regarding the cumulative incidence, it stands at 350.48 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while yesterday it was 321. Today’s is the worst data since November 24. Since the start of the pandemic, 2,050,360 people have been infected in Spain and 51,874 have died.
The new infections are distributed as follows: Catalunya, 6,189; Madrid 4,571; C. Valenciana, 4,541; Andalusia, 1,852; Castilla-La Mancha, 1,679; Castilla y León, 1,271 and Extremadura, 1,181. The rise in cases in the Valencian Community is striking, as well as the accumulated incidence in Extremadura (799 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and in Madrid and the Balearic Islands, with 507 and 546 cases respectively.
This data comes after this morning the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, and the Minister of Territorial Policy, Carolina Darias, have valued that the pandemic “evolves for the worse” in our country, after meeting with the Moncloa coronavirus monitoring committee. “There are tough weeks ahead again,” said Illa, who stressed that “we have already been growing for several weeks.” Both have focused on reducing mobility and contacts, following the restrictions of the authorities to achieve an improvement in the situation.
