Spain received4.2 millionof international tourists in January,2.2%more than in the same month of 2018, according to the provisional data of the Survey of Frontier Tourist Movements (Frontur) prepared by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In January, the spending ofinternational touristsin theirtrips to SpainIt reached 4,689 million euros, with an increase of 3.6% over the same month of 2018, according to the Tourism Expenditure Survey (Egatur) published also this Friday by Statistics.
The average daily expenditure per tourist in the first month of the year was 1,117 euros, with an annual increase of 1.4%, while the average daily expenditure grew by 5%, to 138 euros.
UK,with 807,347 tourists, it remained the first issuing market in January, with an increase of 1% over the same month of 2018. It was followed by Germany, with 515,989 tourists and a rebound of 2.7%, and France, with 446,307 visitors, an 8, 7% off
Canarias is the first main destination for foreign tourists arriving in Spain, with 1.15 million visitors, 2.1% less than in January 2018.Next they appearCatalonia, with 910,779 visitors (+ 5.3%), and Madrid, with 584,387 tourists (+ 9%).
