The death toll today rises to 584, according to data from the health authorities, which yesterday reported 432. Since the start of the pandemic, 61,386 deaths have been registered in Spain.

The cumulative incidence at 14 days continues to decline, as we have seen all this week, yesterday’s data marked 783.25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and today’s rate stands at 750.77 cases.

In this context, the Ministry of Health meets this afternoon with the autonomous communities to update the vaccination strategy, after deciding that AstraZeneca pharmaceutical vaccine doses will not be inoculated to people over 65 years of age. This change in plans will affect the order of immunization, in which until now the groups of residents and nursing home workers, as well as front-line health workers, were a priority. The Public Health Commission agreed yesterday that the AstraZeneca vaccine, which begins to arrive this weekend, will be injected first to active health and social health professionals not included in the previous groups.
