The deputy director of Programming of the Auditorium, Manuel Benítez, pointed out that the actions of Aubrey Logan, who sings and plays the trombone, "they are a mixture of excellent vocal and instrumental musicality". Benítez, who was accompanied by the general director of the Teatro Auditorio Foundation, Tilman Kuttenkeuler; the director of the Perinké Big Band, Ximo Martínez, and the guitarist Yul Ballesteros, reviewed the style of the artists of this 2019 edition, adding that Ken Morris "offers North American music in Nordic code, in the style that is fashionable in European clubs", a musician "capable of playing both John Coltrane and the jazz classics".
The American will act as a quartet with the musicians Jasper Somsen (double bass), Bela Meinberg (piano) and Joost Lijbaart (drums). Yul Ballesteros will be with the format of the Canarian Quintet along with José Alberto Medina (piano), José Vera (saxo), Tana Santana (double bass) and Suso Vega (drums) "where he will present his new album published just under a year ago". The voice "powerful and with a lot of personality" of? Shayna Steele is the third date of the concert cycle. The vocalist will be accompanied by David Cook (keyboards), Ross Pederson (drums), Brian Cockerham (bass) and Errol Cooney (guitar).
To the Italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu It will be supported by a quartet that emerged from the meeting of two important symbols of Japanese jazz, Aska Kaneko and Tomohiro Yahiro, and the Argentines Gerardo di Giusto and Carlos Buschini, with whom they form Gaia Four, a band "with a very particular and modern result," he said.
The concert cycle closes Nitai Hershkovits, "a very personal Israeli pianist, of contemporary jazz", which comes in a trio format with Or Bareket (bass) and Amir Bresler (drums). Benítez stressed that El Rincón del Jazz achieves "the average number of spectators of a club in the European ranking". For his part, Ximo Martínez, recalled the fantastic acoustics and the good atmosphere of this event for which "the most important jazz musicians in the world have passed". And Yul Ballesteros thanked his participation in an initiative "that helps us grow."
