The Romanian tennis player Simona halep, number two in the world, announced this Saturday that has tested positive for coronavirus and is in quarantine until the disease is over, in addition to suffering “mild symptoms.”
“Hello everyone, I wanted to inform you that I have tested positive for COVID-19. I isolate myself at home and I am recovering well from mild symptoms“Halep wrote on his Twitter account.
“I feel good … we will get through this together,” added the double Grand Slam winner. Halep, 29, ended this season with his elimination in the round of 16 in Roland Garros, where she fell against the Polish Iga Swiatek, ultimately champion of the tournament.
Halep did not participate in the last edition of the US Open for security reasons related to the pandemic. He will return to the courts when he overcomes the coronavirus, in order to prepare for the start of 2021.
