Last Friday the Ministry of Health announced the vaccination plan for people under 60 years of age who had already received a first dose of AstraZeneca. They had been waiting for a decision on what to do with the second dose after the suspension of vaccination to this group due to the announcements of the rare cases of thrombi with low levels of platelets in the blood associated with Vaxzevria (trade name of AstraZeneca ) in April. Default, the Pfizer vaccine will be offered as a second dose. However, they will have the option to decline said vaccine and choose a Vaxzevria dose if they sign a informed consent (IC). The decision is made after consulting the Bioethics Committee of Spain, which has issued a favorable report to this possibility.
