The German multinational Siemens has announced the launch of Xcelerator, an open digital platform whose purpose is to provide tools so that industries of any nature can accelerate the digital transformation in their production process and benefit from this technology to save maintenance costs and anticipate possible technical errors. thanks to the application of artificial intelligence.

This technology enables the "virtually indistinguishable" recreation of
real world environments in the metaverse
for different applications, such as training artificial intelligence in risk situations, such as predicting the reaction to an accident or other scenarios that would entail risks in the physical world. Another of the main applications is the development of the product, since it allows the recreation of models of intelligent buildings or prototypes of railways and vehicles in the metaverse to verify its operation and allow changes without actually producing it, saving the costs that this implies and being able to refine the details before beginning manufacturing.

Interaction with the metaverse or "virtual twin" of the physical world also influences the way of working, allowing work groups from different parts of the world to be brought together in the same virtual environment at the same time, such as engineers, developers or marketing, and cut down on time of work.

“Physics-based and photorealistic digital twins embedded in the industrial metaverse offer enormous potential to transform our economies and industries by providing a virtual world in which people can interact and collaborate to solve real-world problems. Through this partnership, we will make the industrial metaverse a reality for companies of all sizes," said Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG.

The first offering based on this new generation technology is directly focused on the real estate sector, Building X, which aims to remove complexity by allowing stakeholders to digitize and use their building data from various sources, disciplines and systems in one single platform.

Siemens Xcelerator includes a portfolio of Internet of Things (IOT)-enabled hardware, software, and digital services from Siemens and certified third parties. The ecosystem has more than 50 companies of different sizes and fields for the application of technologies such as artificial intelligence or mechanisms to guarantee improved sustainability.

Agreements and strategy

The first major collaboration agreement under the Siemens Xcelerator umbrella is with Nvdia. Both companies today announced the expansion of their partnership to bring together advances in artificial intelligence, algorithms and computing through the latest Nvdia processors with information technology and infrastructure from Siemens.

As part of the launch, Siemens confirms its growth targets for the digital business announced on capital market day for the past few years, of a compound annual growth rate of around 10 percent over the business cycle. Digital revenue in fiscal 2021 stood at €5.6 billion.
