Question: How is the running of the bulls going?
Reply:It is a little difficult. Training alone is a little different, a little monotonous. We have a responsibility, like the population. I have time to enjoy my family, my daughters, my wife. You can look for good things and bad things.
Q: Is it difficult to keep the shape with the fridge so close at hand?
A:(Laughter) We have a plan to prepare ourselves physically. We work hard. It is a big responsibility for when we return to play to have the best possible form.
Q: The preparation of the goalkeepers is somewhat different, does your wife or daughter kick you and throw you on the lawn in the garden?
A:(Laughs) Not that. The plan is more or less like the holidays or Christmas. Running and working out the physique, having strong muscles, exercising with the tires, strength in the legs, jumping … The plan is easy, but not with the ball.
Q: You have already done thechallengeof toilet paper or do the doormen have it more complicated?
A:I have my brother’s nomination. I will do it soon. There are manychallengeson social networks these days. With the role, stops, the best goal. It is a time to connect with others and spend this as well as possible.
Q: Let’s move on to a serious matter, how is your country? What does the family tell you?
A:Our country is more or less like here. There is also quarantine, but not as strict. You can go for example to the parks, a walk with the dog. You can go out, but the situation is not good, although not like here, with many people infected. My parents go out to work, my brother does not. My wife’s father also goes out to work. My family is fine.
Q: Seeing how this Spain, with the figures that are handled, are you afraid?
A:I have many messages from my friends because they read in the media the information about this Spain, the second country behind Italy with many people with coronavirus. It is normal. The family is a little scared. I want to reassure you. We follow the recommendations of not going out, being at home and we are fine. I want to transform that information into something positive also for my family.
Q: Do you think the season can be ended?
A:That question is difficult. The Premier has said that it will be played from April 30. It is very difficult to say that, if you are going to play and end the year. We must be calm and prepare to play again.
Q: If not, what should the authorities do? All null or Sevilla at least third in the League?
A:I prefer Sevilla third (laughs). It is difficult to say because if we have 70% played … This decision is difficult because deciding who goes to the Champions League, Europa League or descends. The same if you cancel, who goes to Champions … I hope to play again and that the season ends on the field. That would mean that everything with the virus is fine.
Q: Has it bothered you a lot not being able to play the Euro with your country?
A:I really wanted to because it would be the first Euro that I can play. I have had 10-12 years where Peter Cech in my position was indisputable. It is a pity. It is a logical decision because it was going to be played in 12 countries, with a lot of travel. That decision was normal.
Q: And when the competition returns, you have a derby … What a long preview, right?
A:(Laughter) A very long preparation for the derby. I have seen the information to be played on May 17. Always better a little later and with the fans in the stands.
Q: That really touches still far, how is Vaclik after that scare of Getafe?
A:I’m fine. I just needed a week to relax a little with my knee. At this moment I am fine. Also when I played against the Attic. I was ready for that game and for what came with Roma and the derby. I just had to stop for a week.
Q: Your face in Getafe made you think the worst.
A:I had great pain in the knee in the 12th minute. In a jump on a side kick, I felt a littlecrack. It was not inflamed, but it was in pain. The best decision is for Bono to play the second half. It was not 100%. The week with Cluj and Osasuna made the decision with the doctors not to play.
Q: Is there a legend with your knee or do you really have a problem?
A:I know my knee is being talked about, but I don’t know why. Normally I have not missed matches in Basel, nor in Sevilla. But I read and listen to this topic being discussed. I can not do anything about it.
Q: How do you live with this?
A:It’s always the discussions about football and the players. They are information that is not true. It is as it is. I don’t know what else to say. I know how my knees are. The club knows that I did not miss any training. I have played 250-260 games in the last five years without missing one for this reason. I’m fine and calm. I have confidence in my body.
Q: What does Lopetegui tell you?
A:It is a great support. He has a good relationship with all the players. And the most important thing is that we have results. I speak for the entire team that we have a good relationship with the master and the entire technical staff.
Q: Does the criticism in your stadium understand Lopetegui himself?
A:I always understand the fans, it is their right. When they are not happy they can whistle. I understand why everyone wants more. Our fans want more, we want more, the coach wants more. It can be a motivation to work harder and earn more. We are third, but it can always be better. We lost many points at home, where we have not been regular. But we are still third parties. When the season starts again we need everyone’s union to be able to win a lot. Especially in Snchez-Pizjun, where we need the fans on our side.
Q: You were present in the Prague disaster, do you have a thorn in the Europa League?
A:It was a hard time for me. We lost that game in my country against my great rival, I am from Sparta. It is always difficult to lose a match like that. I also injured myself for five weeks. It was a very hard time. It is also football. This year we have another opportunity, first against Rome. The Europa League is very important.
Q: Do you dream of the sixth?
A:Forever. It is a dream of all of us here. We have this opportunity. It is a very tough, competitive competition with large teams. It is a very important challenge.
Q: What would be a good year for Sevilla when everything is over?
A:Qualify for the Champions League and try to win the Europa League. The main objective is to be in the top 3-4.
