Doña Letizia will visit the Valladolid International Film Week next Friday, October 26. During her stay, the Queen will attend the traditional screening of a silent film classic with the accompaniment of the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra (OSCyL) at the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center. This edition, the chosen film is Safety Last! (The man fly, 1923), directed by Fred Newmeyer and Sam Taylor, and starring Harold Lloyd, according to the contest itself in a statement. It is the first official appearance of Mrs. Letizia, as queen, in a Spanish film festival: she has never attended the Goya, where the Royal House is invited every year, nor the San Sebastian Festival, the only Spanish festival considered class A.
During her visit, the Queen will receive the members of the Seminary's Governing Council before the screening, to be interested in the present and the future of the festival. In addition, Mrs. Letizia will meet with a representation of the filmmakers present that day. At an official reception, the director of the Seminci, Javier Angulo, met with Mrs. Letizia and, speaking about the situation of Spanish cinema, commented that it would be convenient for the Royal House to support him with a gesture.
During this 63rd edition, the American actor Matt Dillon will receive the Spike of Honor in recognition of an extensive career that treasures such outstanding titles as Rebels, The street law, Drugstore Cowboy, All for a dream, Beautiful Girls, Something happens with Mery or Crash. Over almost four decades, Dillon has gone from teenage idol to fetish actor of independent film, in addition to demonstrating his great talent and versatility as an actor in thrillers, dramas and comedies.
