Security officers take possession before investiture of López Obrador



The Secretaries of the Interior, Defense and Navy have taken office at midnight this December 1, hours before the investiture of Andrés Manuel López Obrador as President of Mexico.

The relay in these ministries responsible for security in the country, is carried out in a traditional way at zero hours of the day that the new government begins to avoid gaps in their functions.

The head of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, received just at 00.00 this December 1, the office from Alfonso Navarrete Prida, outgoing secretary.

Sánchez Cordero is the first woman to occupy the title of the Ministry of the Interior in the history of Mexico.

"The transition stage ends, today begins the fourth transformation of the Republic led by our president Andrés Manuel López Obrador," Cordero said when he assumed his responsibility.

In Defense, General Salvador Cienfuegos gave the command of the Ministry to General Luis Crescencio Sandoval González, who was in command of the fourth military region formed by the states of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León and San Luis Potosí

In Marina, Admiral Vidal Francisco Soberón, transferred the command to Admiral José Rafael Ojeda Durán, who worked as Inspector and General Comptroller of the Navy.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, winner last July of the presidential elections, will take possession of the Presidency of Mexico this December 1 in a ceremony at the Congress of the Union before some 900 guests.

His term of office will end on September 30, 2024.
