Seat sold a total of 62,500 cars in March, 3.5% more than the same month of 2018, and has thus broken the delivery record in a single month in its seven decades of history.
In this first quarter, the global sales of the car have risen by 8.8% compared to the first three months of 2018 and, with 151,400 vehicles delivered, have exceeded the record of the first quarter of last year (139,200), has reported Seat in a statement.
The company has attributed this growth, in part, to the deliveries of the new Cupra brand, which sold a total of 6,000 cars during the first quarter of 2019, 115.7% more than the same period last year, especially for the momentum of the Cupra Ateca model.
"Having a broad and new product range has allowed us to continue breaking records in the first quarter of the year, the economic scenario presents uncertainties and challenges and, therefore, the record we have achieved in the first quarter is even more relevant", has assured Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Cupra, the sports brand of Seat.
"In 2019, the new Seat Tarraco will boost global sales figures, which generates confidence for this year, and Cupra's exceptional result in the first quarter encourages us to continue expanding the brand's presence in Europe and in regions strategic areas such as North Africa and Latin America, "added Griffiths.
In the first three months of 2019, Spain and Germany have remained as the two main markets of Seat, with 29,400 registrations, although in Spain they have fallen by close to 7%.
