Unionistas and Real Madrid will play the round of 16 game of the Copa del Rey in the Pistas del Helmántico next Wednesday, 22nd, at 9:00 p.m., but without extra bleachers because it was “impossible to grant the authorization of its installation within the necessary deadlines ”.
As reported by the Salamanca team in a press release, yesterday Friday presented to the City of Villares de la Reina (Salamanca), because the Tracks are in its municipal district, “the documents required to request the installation of supplementary stands and a new lighting ”.
The clash is played on Wednesday, at 9:00 p.m. and televised by Cuatro and Dazn.
However, hours later Unionistas was informed by the Consistory of Villares de la Reina that “it would be impossible to grant authorization for the installation of the additional stands within the necessary time limits,” according to the statement.
“Under these circumstances, definitely the meeting between Unionistas de Salamanca and Real Madrid will be held in Las Pistas with the current capacity” of 4,000 people, according to the Salamanca club.
Various sources consulted by Efe have confirmed that the impossibility is based on the lack of the first activity license necessary to carry out activities on the Tracks.
The owner of the Pistas facilities is the Salamanca City Council, to which the request corresponds to that first activity license to carry out the extension works in 2002.
However, sources from the City Council of Villares de la Reina have stressed that the request by Unionists was presented on Friday “at the last minute” and “until Monday, at least, there will be no response from the municipal architect.”
Given this, on Saturday the PSOE of Salamanca has claimed the current municipal government team of the capital of Salamanca, through a press release, “immediate explanations on the situation of the Helmántico slopes in relation to compliance with the law regarding the different licenses that are mandatory “.
Last night a meeting was held between the mayor of Salamanca, Carlos García Carbayo, accompanied by several councilors, with the president of Unionists, Miguel Ángel Sandoval, although it has not transcended either the reason or the conclusions of the meeting.
On both sides the presence of the media was eluded.
The communist communiqué acknowledges that, in a final effort to “try to increase the capacity”, the Salamanca City Council “will carry out measurement work on Monday at the facilities to try to increase it as much as possible and certify what it is the maximum capacity of Las Pistas for said match “.EFE
