The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, presides over this Sunday a new meeting by videoconference with the presidents of the autonomous communities and cities, the first after the controversy raised in some territories by the decision of the Executive to reject his passage to phase 1 of the plan de-escalation.
Specifically, they can go to phase 1, which eases restrictions on mobility and activity with respect to phase 0, the entire territory of Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque Country, La Rioja, Navarra, Aragon, Extremadura and Murcia , as well as the Canary and Balearic Islands, where all the islands that were already in phase 1 in both archipelagos, and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla are added.
Madrid, Catalonia and Castilla y León, with minor exceptions in their territories, will continue in phase 0 or preparation, in which the Castilian-Manchegas provinces of Toledo, Ciudad Real and Albacete, the Andalusians of Malaga and Granada and 14 will also remain for the time being. of the 24 health departments of the Valencian Community.
It is in this last group of areas that they will still have to wait at least one more week to achieve this phase change where the complaints have taken place.
In the case of Madrid, its regional vice president, Ignacio Aguado, warned on Saturday that this decision by the central government means that many businesses will not be able to open yet, something that will deepen the critical situation that thousands of freelancers, bars and small shops.
Aguado has also considered that the Executive should make the use of masks mandatory starting this Monday.
The Minister of Health of the Valencian government, Ana Barceló, has also stated that she does not share that the Valencian Community does not pass entirely to phase 1; and from Andalusia, the vice president of the regional government, Juan Marín, assured that leaving Granada and Malaga in phase 0 is “a frontal attack” on the Board.
In this sense, the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez, avoided this Saturday at a press conference to enter into controversies with any autonomous president and stressed that all of them will find in him an “ally” against the coronavirus.
