The aftershocks after the May 4 elections are still being felt on the Madrid left. In Izquierda Unida, a struggle that has been raging for years has returned to the forefront, which has its epicenter in the relationship with Podemos, and that will be resolved again this coming July, when its II regional Assembly will be held. In it, the outgoing management, headed by Álvaro Aguilera, will defend its continuity. Opposite there will be an alternative supported by some of the organization’s best-known faces in the community: the mayor of Rivas, Pedro del Cura, the former councilor of the Madrid City Council Carlos Sánchez Mato, or the regional deputy Sol Sánchez, among others.
