Balance of the political course

The nationalist formation understands that the agreement should not be assessed by percentages and recalls that several relevant issues are still missing

The president of the Government,
Pedro Sanchezyesterday took stock of the political course before the summer break and presented the usual accountability report, in which the Executive sets out the
degree of compliance of the commitments made at the beginning of the legislature.

The document, which is public and can be consulted on the La Moncloa website, indicates that the agreement that the PSOE signed with NC on January 3, 2020, called
Bases for a Canarian Agendain exchange for the support of the then deputy Pedro Quevedo for the investiture of Sánchez, had already been fulfilled by
62.2% at the end of the first semester of 2022 and it will be at 64.4% when the year ends.

Based on an analysis and systematization methodology, the report of the
Accountability Unit (URC) of the Government specifies that of the 45 points that the agreement with CC consists of, as of December 2021, 17 (37.8%) had been fulfilled and there are currently another 12 (26.7%) in process, of which 10 are advanced, 1 without progress and 1 processed by third parties, with the forecast that 11 of them will be completed in the second semester.

The document highlights the “
positive evolution in the fulfillment of the commitments acquired with NC» throughout the first semester of the current year. The balance is limited to the data,
Unspecified to which points of the pact he refers at each moment.

The nationalist party, which for two and a half years has been
Sanchez's ally in Congress, however, it differs from the methodology applied to analyze the degree of compliance with the investiture agreement, because it homogenizes all the points by giving them the same weight.

Although the former deputy
Peter Quevedo -who ceded the seat at the beginning of July to María Fernández (CC) in compliance with her electoral alliance- recognizes that the balance of the pact with the PSOE is "reasonably positive", also points out that "quantifying it in this way is difficult", because remain to be fulfilled "very relevant issues that
cannot be reduced to a percentage».

The agreement is for the period
2020-2024so on paper it is valid until the end of the legislature, which could allow some more progress even though NC is no longer in Congress.
