In an interview this Monday in Catalunya Ràdio collected by Europa Press, he said that the people who visited them have found "fully aware" of the effort involved in their protest and wanting to carry it out.
They have "full professional confidence" in the medical services of the penitentiary center of Lledoners (Barcelona) – where they are in provisional prison -, which marks them follow their daily routine normally, although Vilarasau has predicted that if his health weakens doctors of prison can suggest to modify it and that they are transferred to the infirmary.
Asked about the effects of the hunger strike, the doctor has indicated that politicians strike solid but not liquids, which marks "a great different", since the margin of safety for health if they drink liquids is greater .
In that sense, he explained that in a solids strike "two or three weeks are a fairly wide safety margin", although it depends on each person, since one of them could be recommended to eat again before another .
Vilarasau pointed out that when he was approached about the possibility of the strike he gave two pieces of advice: that it be an individual and free decision, and that it should not be undertaken by a single person without an environment, so "it was not advisable to transfer the possibility to one of the two prisoners ", in reference to Carme Forcadell and Dolors Bassa.
In addition, he pointed out that the medical deontological code obliges to respect the will of the patient, so "in no way a doctor can force their food" although a court order could.
