Sánchez and Iglesias finalize in Moncloa an agreement on budgets

The Secretary General of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, met late in the afternoon in Moncloa with the Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, to finalize a budget agreement that will be sent by the Executive to Brussels before October 15.

Sources close to the negotiation have confirmed to EFE that the meeting took place with discretion in order to finalize some details of this agreement that will be expected tomorrow.

Throughout the day the meetings between members of the Government and of the direction of Podemos have intensified and while the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, has met with the secretary of Organización de Podemos, Pablo Echenique, on two occasions, In the morning and in the afternoon, Sánchez and Iglesias have been the ones who have finalized the pact.

In fact, the Vice President of the Government, Carmen Calvo, advanced a few hours ago at Onda Cero, where both parties were "finalizing the agreement" and that the negotiations were going "fairly well".

Calvo said that they had found spaces of agreement on housing, pensions, dependency, education, gender violence and equality policies and it is expected that the Council of Ministers advance tomorrow the general lines of this budget draft that will be sent to Brussels.

However, this document has been prepared in all probability with the path of deficit approved by the previous Government of the PP and that supposed a smaller margin of expense for the Autonomous Communities, Social Security and for the State, estimated in 6,000 million Euros.

The same sources have indicated that both the Executive and Podemos will explain tomorrow the main lines of action to increase revenue and collection in order to allocate them to social policies.

In the last hours, Podemos had warned the Executive that they had not yet reached an agreement due to the lack of specific measures in labor, energy or housing matters.

However, the Finance Minister, María Jesús Montero, pointed out this morning that in the corridors of Congress there will be important housing measures so that citizens do not have difficulties to access mainly to the rents.

He pointed out that in certain municipalities and urban centers it is impossible to access a decent rent and was very optimistic in closing an agreement soon with Podemos because "there are many meeting points".
