The corporate director of RTVE, Federico Montero, has shown on Wednesday all the support of the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation because "the 570 million Spanish speakers deserve to be given all the attention they can."
Speaking to journalists before inaugurating at the University of Salamanca (USAL) the conference 'Communicate and inform in Spanish', Montero has denied that it is necessary to "compete" with the English language, so the RTVE must "attend the language of the Spanish, in addition to the other co-official ".
For him, the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation "contributes to the dissemination of Spanish throughout the world", with an "absolute power" as a diffuser of the language "with its own, national and international channels".
In addition, and with the existence of 570 million Spanish speakers, "RTVE must attend to their language because they deserve to be given all the attention they can."
Asked by journalists about the role of social networks in the teaching of Spanish, Federico Montero has acknowledged that "they are a means of communication more", so RTVE "is there", with "a web platform through the which specific programs are broadcast in Spanish ".
At the opening ceremony of this Congress, promoted by RTVE, the Junta de Castilla y León, the Salamanca City Council and the University, the Salamanca Rector, Ricardo Rivero, stressed that communication in Spanish is a part of the "demand for our common language and its extraordinary informative power ", so that the media that are trained" in the best knowledge of the language will be able to transmit better ".
