Rodríguez Uribes says that with the local contribution the demographic challenge can be faced from the cultural and sports

The Minister of Culture José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes said Tuesday, before meeting with the president of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), Abel Caballero, that only with the contribution of municipalities can the demographic challenge be addressed from the Cultural and sports.

Uribes has assured that the meeting with the President of the FEMP was "fundamental, since the Local Entities are essential for the vertebration and cohesion of the country". In this sense, it has shown that "only with the contribution of the local can be faced from the cultural and sports great challenges of the country as the demographic challenge."

Abel Caballero, also mayor of Vigo, said for his part that "within the diversity of the local world, of the 8131 municipalities in Spain" there are common factors such as Culture and Sports. Thus, he recalled that both subjects are central work axes for these entities and that "most of the country's sports facilities are locally owned and that Local Governments are guardians of culture in the territories."

During his meeting with Rodríguez Uribes, Caballero highlighted the need to maximize cooperation between the Local and Central Administration in order to bring culture to all territories and to promote a healthy, inclusive and non-violent sport. He has proposed to the Government of Spain to initiate a "common political project in the field of Culture and Sport".

The President of the FEMP recalled that both subjects are central axes of work for these entities and that "most of the country's sports facilities are locally owned and that Local Governments are guardians of culture in the territories."

He added that "on many issues, the common political project that we demand for Culture and Local Sports have a component of cooperation rather than economic" and therefore asks the Government to be in the territories and that "the Minister comes to our actions and the Ministry support them. "
