The Minister of Culture and Sports, Jose Manuel Rodriguez Uribes, has stated this Thursday that it is “safer” to go to the movies, to the theater or to a live music concert than go to a bar or restaurant, because “Culture is safe” is not a “desideratum” but a fact “proven for months.”
This was stated by Rodríguez Uribes during an interview on Channel 24 Horas de TVE, where he also said that culture is “safer”, “especially”, than “family gatherings or informal places where we relax.”
In this sense, the head of Culture has told that in the inter-territorial council that will be held this Friday together with the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, and the councilors of Health and Culture of all the Autonomous Communities, will “seek to reinforce the coordinated decisions of all to convey the message that Culture is a safe space.”
In addition, he recalled that The ‘CulturaSegura’ campaign is already underway, designed for social networks and composed of a series of videos where Alejandro Amenábar, Ana Belén, Ainhoa Arteta, Isabel Coixet, Antonio Canales, Luis García Montero, Lolita, Joaquín de Luz, Manuela Velasco and Sergio Momo, among others, encourage citizens to attend the cultural shows under two premises: “Culture is safe” and “Culture illuminates”.
“The sector is suffering these months which has to do with the lockdown, which is human, but is not justified, of many people who do not go to cultural events. That is why we have launched this campaign, because that Culture is safe is not a desideratum, it is a verification for months, “he added during the interview.
