Mexico, Feb 28 (EFE) .- The Mexican regional genre is for the Chilean singer Mon Laferte a new world in which she accepts to be far from being “an expert”, but with the new version of “My heart is going to burn “, together with the overwhelming Banda El Limón, he deepened his love for him.
“Now I’m in love with the Mexican regional. (…) I’m ashamed to say this, but I don’t know her that much. (…) This is a collaboration, I’m not an expert, but what I do know is that there is no band women, or at least I’m ignorant and I don’t know her, “he explained in an interview with Efe.
Laferte and La Arrolladora Banda El Limón, by René Camacho, released this week a second version of “My heart is going to burn,” a song whose previous video featured the Mexican singer and actor Tenoch Huerta.
Now, the song acquired a different power “to put at full volume at night and pour your mezcalito or tequilita”, something that contributes the instrumentation of the norteño band, born in the state of Sinaloa, in a genre whose popularity does not stop grow in Mexico and the United States.
“The band has an impressive force, a strong power. I think that the two versions put you in two different ‘moods’ (states of mind), but as a singer I can give all the voice. I feel that band music has a lot of power”, I consider.
The Chilean based in Mexico said that she entered the genre thanks to Manú Jalil, one of the producers of her next album and also one of her closest friends, who told her that the song could be very good with a band.
“It all started because one of the album’s producers loves band music and he told me ‘hey, this song would look great with a band’ and he was the one who made the contact. Besides, La Arrolladora had been looking for me for a long time. do something, then there was already a kind of romance, “he said.
REFORMULATING THE BAND
The singer, who has dared to experiment with different musical styles in her career, is sure that both she and La Arrolladora left “their comfort zone” and confessed that during the recording of the video everyone was nervous, but they were able to talk about what each one wanted to contribute.
“That is exactly what I like, to talk, to put things on the table,” she explained, satisfied because before the recording they sent her the proposal and they liked it.
“I wanted it to be like a small movie scene, a very simple thing and to get that also from the videos like the car, the exuberance. Here it is the opposite: we are sitting in a canteen. (…) The day ( filming) I could tell they were nervous, but they were very nice, “he said.
In addition, after following Jalil’s recommendations to listen to this genre, he discovered the late singer Jenni Rivera, known as the Diva de la Banda, whose music he fell in love with.
However, as she listened to more bands and songs of the genre, she realized that there were very macho lyrics and that there were few women doing regional Mexican.
“What I would like is that the speech I want to give is not outside of this genre. I think that maybe there are a lot of girls (girls) in Sinaloa who make music and would love to play a band and they don’t because it is not frowned upon or whatever, and then they have to play another genre of music to fit in, “he considered.
That is why he wanted to normalize his presence in a band song and give a message to women who want to make this type of music: “If you want to play a band, go and play a band! Let’s invent other lyrics and give another speech,” he called.
And she would love, she said, to be able to invite La Arrolladora soon to play with her “My heart is going to burn” at a concert, although she still doesn’t know when she will be able to get on stage again.
“I wish something to happen, please, because I am desperate to play again. I hope we can show the full album (which will be released in a few months) in concert. And if I can invite La Arrolladora, of course I will”, finished.
