Rescue of Julen, a rocky massif delays the excavations

The technicians who participate in the rescue of Julen, the 2-year-old boy who fell into a deep well in Totalán (Málaga), they hope to reach him before Monday, although difficulties have arisen with the terrain.

The person in charge of the operative, Ángel García, has explained today to the journalists that the anticipated term "moves away a little" after find a rock mass in the excavations prior to the execution of the vertical tunnel in which they focus their efforts.

In spite of everything, they maintain the intention of start that drilling this afternoon, since the necessary clearing has reached the 19 meters of depth of the total of 25 foreseen.

In the area, there is no rest, day and night, the movement of people and vehicles for the movement of the earth and this morning new heavy machinery has been incorporated to the tasks.

The forecast is that in the next few hours the work will finish on the platform, when the planned 30 meters of depth is reached, and the drilling of the first parallel tunnel to the well of more than 100 meters and 25 centimeters wide where the child fell last Sunday.

The delegate of the College of Roads and Canals of Malaga, Ángel García, explained yesterday that once this drill begins on Friday, the way to reconcile it with the possible continuity of the suction in the well where the child fell will be studied.

Although it will start with one of the vertical tunnels, there will be a second drilling machine to start the other one as soon as the technicians determine it.

Also, before the possibility of rain in the coming days, ditches will be built for possible drainage of the fallen water.
