Colombian authorities rescued a four-year-old Venezuelan girl who was kidnapped on January 1 in the neighboring country in Cali (southwest), official sources said.
"In the last hours the Colombian Army, Police and Prosecutor's Office managed to rescue Davianyerlin Gabriela Rodríguez Baamont, four years old, kidnapped in the state of Aragua, Venezuela, and rescued in Cali," the defense minister said on Twitter. , Guillermo Botero.
The operation to locate the child began after the father of the girl reported in the Colombian department of Magdalena, in the north of the country, that her daughter was kidnapped in Venezuela since January 1.
After several days of investigation, the authorities located a house in the neighborhood of October 12 in Cali where Davianyerlin Gabriela remained, who apparently was kidnapped by her mother's partner.
"According to the information provided by the complainant, the minor was under the responsibility of her mother, who resides in the state of Aragua, in the neighboring country," Colonel Marco Antonio Castillo, second commander of the Third Brigade of the Army.
After her recovery, the girl was left at the disposal of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF), where her rights will be restored.
