Renfe face tomorrow, day 21, a day of strike with the cancellation of 571 trains, about 30% of those initially scheduled for this Friday, despite the agreement reached with the unions UGT, CC OO and Semaf on the new collective agreement that had motivated the conflict. The CGT union has not joined the agreement and maintains the strikes.
Of the total cancellations planned, 160 of them are AVE and Long Distance trains, and another 411 of Average Distance (regional), which coincides with the exit operation of Christmas. Despite CC OO, the other union that had called the stoppages has called off the strike, the minimum services decreed by the Ministry of Public Works will be applied, because there is no time to reschedule the circulations and the CGT call.
These essential services guarantee the circulation of up to 78% of the usual AVE and Long Distance trains and 65% of the Medium Distance trains. In the case of commuter trains, essential services ensure the circulation of 50% of trains, a percentage that rises to 75% in peak hours.
Promotion justifies these percentages to the strike has been convened in a day of "exceptional movement of travelers", given that the mobility of a working day coincides with the start of the weekend and the operation of the Christmas holidays . On January 7, coinciding with the return operation, another strike day has been called, although in this case only by CGT after having closed the pact with the rest of the unions.
Renfe reported that last night it reached an agreement with Semaf and UGT and that CC OO has joined today, which will allow 2019 to face better conditions from the labor point of view, especially in matters such as the retirement of workers of retirement age and the incorporation of new professionals to the group, according to the public company in a press release.
Furthermore, it allows the most relevant aspects to be faced with guarantees in the coming years: liberalization in the passenger transport market, the future of freight transport and the maintenance model, internationalization and the conversion of Renfe into an integral operator of mobility.
The pre-agreement, which guarantees an agreement with a validity of two years that can be extended to another one, will be submitted for authorization to the Commission for Monitoring Collective Bargaining in public companies,
CGT rejects the new Renfe agreement considering that the variable part of the salary increase is not going to be fulfilled and for estimating that its requests to suppress the category of income that the new workers have for two and a half years have not been met. they enter the company for job offers.
The Renfe works council is composed of four members of Semaf, three of UGT, three of CCOO, two of CGT and one of SF-Intersindical.
