Renfe continues its offer offensive: launches a 2x1 promotion for the AVE | Economy

Renfe today launched the 2×1 promotion. It is the first time that the company launches this type of promotion in the style of supermarkets, which allows two people to travel by train for the price of one, provided that the two roundtrip tickets are purchased. The promotion, according to a company statement, will be valid to travel from Thursday 14 to Monday 18 February on AVE and Long Distance trains.

The offer will be available for sale between February 7 and 18 in the company's sales channels (the Renfe website, ticket offices, agencies and telephone sales). The campaign coincides with the strong offensive of discounts that low-cost airlines are making on the routes that coincide with the AVE lines

In this way, the public company continues with its discount campaign for its two competing services (AVE and Long Distance) after which at the beginning of last January will apply a reduction in bills of up to 70% to travel during the months of January and February. The objective is to achieve maximum occupancy in high-speed trains.

The company doubled the tickets on offer in Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Valencia, Alicante, Malaga, Bilbao, Cádiz, Gijón (Asturias) and many other cities, and in most of the trips the stock has been exhausted.

In 2018 Renfe managed to return to pre-crisis levels of travelers, recovering the level of 500 million passengers. It transported 507 million passengers in all the services it operates, according to the president of the operator, Isaías Táboas, informed at the end of January. The AVE and Long Distance trains transported 33 million passengers, 4.5% more.
