Rebound in “imported” cases leads Beijing to expand control measures

Likewise, travelers’ 14-day quarantines must be carried out in a concentrated manner, in places designated by the municipal government, whereas before a few exceptions were contemplated that allowed some residents of the Chinese capital to spend it in their own homes.

This announcement comes after the health authorities of the capital detected 31 cases of the 74 new contagions “imported” registered throughout the country until last local morning (16.00 GMT on Monday), almost triple that on the eve, when there was 10 in Beijing (out of 39 total on Chinese soil).

Also, Beijing registered a new local contagion (4 in the whole country), from a person who had been in contact with one of those diagnosed as “imported”, according to local press.

Although the Chinese authorities have not clearly announced a border closure, they have invited travelers to “think twice” before traveling to Beijing, where anyone who wishes to enter must undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine. in a hotel paid for by the interested party.

The new measures join the diversion of international flights to Beijing to other surrounding cities, where passengers will undergo mandatory medical checks, the result of which will determine whether they are authorized to continue the trip to the capital or must remain in quarantine at that same point of arrival.

The total number of infected diagnosed in Beijing since the start of the pandemic is 554 (among which 8 have perished), while the total number in China is 81,171 infections, among which 3,277 people died.
