Raval residents protest the Macba expansion

Barcelona, Jun 6 (EFE) .- A quarantine of residents of the Raval have protested this Sunday against the expansion of the Macba with a symbolic act carried out in Plaça Dels Àngels, in which they have marked, with tape on the ground, the 908 square meters of public space that will be lost in favor of the museum.

As explained to Efe by Flora Muñoz, from the Xarxa Veïnal del Raval, residents have denounced that the densest neighborhood in Barcelona "loses public space" in favor of a private capital foundation.

For residents it is a neighborhood in which city facilities are prioritized while maintaining the deficiency of public facilities that they have been demanding for years, such as the expansion of the library.

The residents also ask public managers for explanations for the transfer to Macba of the historic buildings of the Capella dels Àngels and the Convent dels Àngels "for private use".

They also recalled that the Macba expansion project is close to three schools and the future Primary Care Center (CAP) of Raval Nord and that, in the bases of the museum expansion competition, there is no reference to Plaça Dels Àngels as a neighborhood use space.
