The mayor of the city, Teodoro Sosa, remembered him today and remembered when in 2014 he gave him the Golden Pintadera of the City in recognition of a lifetime dedicated to his craft in this city. Sosa wanted to express his deepest condolences for this heartfelt loss to his entire family. Ramón Castellano Padrón was born in Santa Mª de Guía on January 6, 1933, fruit of the marriage formed by Carmen Padrón and Gregorio Castellano (well-known contractor of his time in Guía como Maestro Boro). It is the sixth of eight brothers. His childhood and youth developed in Santa María de Guía until in 1959, after marrying Josefa Sánchez Molina, they decided to locate their residence in the city of Gáldar.

From a young age he knew that his vocation was the pastry shop, although his first contact with the business world was the opening of a textile confection in the old street Párroco Romero de Gáldar, in which he spent six years, and which he combined with homemade elaborations of what was really his passion "the bakery".

For various reasons, he decides to abandon the textile manufacturing business and take the step join the confectionery Villareal of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in which he was acquiring the necessary experience and knowledge, until in 1972, he decided to set up his first bakery in Gáldar on 7 Guillén Morales Street, in a small place that was to be his business meeting with the City of Gáldar.

In 1977 he transferred the business to Guaires Street, where he stayed for eleven years, at number 27 of the aforementioned street, returning to Guillen Morales street number 1, where the business continues to date. founded with the name of "Pastelería y Heladería Castellano".
