The punctuality of the rail network managed by Adif and Adif Alta Speed stood at around 90% during the first half of the year and rose to about 95% in the case of high-speed lines, which means improving figures from last year.
Specifically, punctuality in high-speed long-distance services, which are considered in time when they have a delay of less than five minutes, went from 91.2% registered during the first half of 2018 to 94.8% in the same 2019 period, while in the high-speed medium distance reached reached 96.4%, the company said in a statement.
As for long-distance traffic, which runs through both the conventional and high-speed networks, punctuality rose to 86.3% compared to 82.1% in 2018. To be considered punctual, they can have up to 10 minutes of delay.
The conventional average distance also increased its punctuality to 92.3%, compared to the 90% recorded in 2018, while the average distance of the metric width network reached 80.4%, above 77.2% from the previous year.
The Cercanías, meanwhile, reached 94.9% in the urban centers of conventional roads (94.6% in the first half of 2018), while in the metric width network it stood at 82.4%, no variation from last year.
For its part, the merchandise service maintained the same indicators as last year with 89% of trains leaving on time.
Adif pointed out that punctuality in the European Union borders an average of 90% on local and regional trips and 80% on long-distance ones.
