The former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont will not stand for re-election to be president of Junts per Catalunya at the congress that the party will hold on June 4 in Argelers (France).
“Now it is necessary, in my opinion, for the party to have a new presidency. That he permanently participate in the executive meetings, that he participate in funds in the political decisions that need to be made. For this reason, I will not present my candidacy for the renewal of the presidency of the party, although I will like it very much and I will feel honored to be able to say goodbye as president in person, by your side”, he said in a letter to the militancy.
In the letter, he assures that Junts is his party and announces that the executive has agreed to convene the training congress on June 4, in which the new leadership will be elected, for which, predictably, the president of the Parliament, Laura Borràs, and the ex-minister Jordi Turull convicted by the procés and pardoned.
