Almost a hundred referees from the province of Las Palmas achieved the goal of passing the course and next season they will debut in a higher category; on the contrary, other 24 companions did not have the same luck, and by circumstances like having reached the regulatory age or not surpassing the physical tests, they lose their category.
Knowing the promotions, which in some cases were endorsed by applause and messages of congratulations, was the main reason that led more than 300 members of Gran Canaria to concentrate yesterday in the auditorium of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the call for proposals. the annual informative meeting of the Technical Committee of Referees, an act that was hosted by its president, Pedro Juan Diaz Batista, who was escorted by the members of its board of directors, the Federation and local authorities.
Of the 93 registered promotions, the largest number (79) are of the field football modality; the rest are from the living room. With the exception of the youth category, which also includes those who have passed the introductory courses (36 students), the average number of promotions per category is ten collegiate by category, in the case of football 11 and 3 in the room specialty.
Increase of matches
According to the statistics, in the season 24,486 performances were registered (main referee, assistants and reports) of which 19,377 were with referee. This last figure also shows the number of matches played in the different federated competitions.
Of the total number of arbitrated parties, another conclusion can be drawn. More than 15,000 matches were played in Gran Canaria, against 2,285 in Lanzarote and 1646 in Fuerteventura. Another fact in the arbitration statistics was the number of reports. With a body of 33 informants, data are collected from almost half a thousand parties (462) from the categories of Third (118), Preferred (132), First (144) and Second (68).
