Pozo Izquierdo dresses up to host the long-awaited Windsurfing World Cup

The championship will start next Saturday, July 9 and will end on Sunday, July 17.

The
Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) prepares to celebrate the
July 9 to 17 at Pozo Izquierdo Beachin Gran Canaria, the third round of the 2022 Windsurfing World Cup circuit, the second in the wave category.

Pozo Izquierdo is decked out to once again receive its favorite daughters,
Daida and Iballa Ruano, who have shared 28 of the last 29 world titles in the wave category. In this edition, her main rival will be the Aruban Sarah-Quita Offringa, current champion of the wave modality in 2019 and who stood on the podium in the last two editions in Pozo Izquierdo.

For its part, this year's men's event will have Bernd Roediger, Marcilio Brawzinho and Camille Juban as its main protagonists, who made up the podium in the first event of this year held in Cape Verde. The 'home of Windsurfing' will also have
the presence of the 2019 champion, the Brazilian Ricardo Campelloas well as local riders like Liam Dunkerbeck, Marinito Gil, Michael Friedl or Phillip Köster.

The vast majority of
the participants are already training in the area, trying to acclimatize to the complicated conditions that they will have to endure during the eight days of competition. During their stay on the Island, the main riders will stay at the facilities of the be Cordial Hotels & Resorts, the main sponsor of the event.

The Windsurfing World Cup has
the institutional collaboration of the Government of the Canary IslandsCabildo de Gran Canaria, through Tourism of Gran Canaria and the Department of Sports and the City Council of Santa Lucía de Tirajana.

In addition to be Cordial Hotels & Resorts, this championship is sponsored by Volkswagen Comerciales, Poema del Mar and Seven Islands Film.
