The postal entity expects a Christmas campaign with 20% more package shipments

With this campaign, Correos Market has presented its e-commerce platform that offers small local producers the possibility to market their artisanal products and send them throughout Spain. The initial business plan provided for the registration of 100 companies by the end of the year. “YoMeQuedo” already sells more than 1,000 references and adds 150 producers, explained the president of Correos, Juan Manuel Serrano, who said that the postal company is currently working with 3,000 producers “so that they are gradually incorporated”. Correos expects this new business to be profitable at the end of 2020, although it will retract "a small margin although much smaller" than the competition, said Serrano. The initial investment has amounted to almost 400,000 euros, half for the campaign and the preparation of ads and the other 50% for the development of the platform. What Correos demands in this new service is that the product is handmade in its manufacture and that it is developed or finished in Spain. To contrast all this, the postal entity has hired an external company that will ensure that the criteria of the products are sustainable and handmade.
After the presentation of the campaign focused on emptied Spain, Serrano said that he expects a 20% increase in package shipments for the Christmas campaign compared to a year ago, which begins with the "Black Friday" and concludes in Reyes, next January 6. Serrano said that only on Saturday after "Black Friday" the postal company registered "a peak higher" than the million packages sent. Although "it is too early" to evaluate the volume of packages sent in this last period of online sales offers, the president of Correos has stressed that "every year is exceeded." Regarding the Christmas campaign, Correos will offer at the end of the year an adjusted number of the number of packages managed.
