Police and guards call rallies in honor of agents murdered by drug traffickers

Police and Civil Guard associations and unions, which are grouped together in the Platform for a Dignified Retirement and Full Salary Equalization, have called for rallies in honor of the two civil guards murdered in Barbate.

“The rallies scheduled nationwide for next February 16 in front of Government Delegations and Subdelegations throughout Spain will undergo a variation, starting with a minute of silence as a sign of mourning for the fallen comrades. In the case of Cádiz, the concentration will serve to pay tribute to David and Miguel Ángel, the murdered civil guards, and to claim the Special Singularity Zone for Cádiz. Only in this way will we achieve our objective of stopping drug trafficking mafias. The tragic events of the night of February 9 in the port of Barbate that ended with the murder of two of our people, and with two other colleagues injured, must be a turning point in the development, not only of the Special Security Plan for Campo de Gibraltar, but also and above all for the performance of our function”says a joint statement.

“From the first day of the platform we have demanded recognition from the Interior as a risk profession for the Civil Guard and the National Police, and we have requested the declaration of a Special Singularity Zone for the province of Cádiz. More and better means are necessary to confront this scourge of drug trafficking in the Strait area. If the conditions of public servants in that region do not improve, it is very difficult for them to want to stay there and criminal groups will end up winning the battle. “The civil guards and police will continue their fight against traffickers, but we have to do it with more and better means and guaranteeing the protection of members of the police forces.”.

“We once again invite all citizens to participate in rallies throughout Spain, since Public Security is an issue that concerns and affects society as a whole. Protect those who protect us.”
