Less than three weeks before the beginning of the Conde de Godó tournament, the Barcelona tournament is the object of desire of the Kosmos group that leads Gerard Piqué. According to the newspaper «Marca», Kosmos aims to win the rights to the tournament that takes place at the Real Club de Tenis de Barcelona and whose official name is Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell. The Kosmos group has taken over the rights to the Davis Cup with a contract for the next 25 years worth almost 3,000 million euros.

The classic Barcelona tournament is managed by the American multinational IMG and its contract ends this year. There are three companies that have presented offers for the exploitation of the tournament in addition to the Yankee giant. Octagon, Tennium and Kosmos are the three candidates to snatch the Godó from IMG. One of the keys of the operation is in the figure of Albert Costa. The ex-champion of Roland Garros and excapitan of the Davis Cup is the director of Godó since 2009. He is also one of the great signings of Kosmos for the celebration of the next Davis from November 18 to 24 at the Caja Mágica in Madrid. Albert Costa is the director of the Davis Finals and in the Godó they are very satisfied with his work leading the tournament.

The Catalan tournament is one of the great classics of the European circuit on clay. This year marks its 67th edition and in its main draw there will be tennis players of the likes of Rafa Nadal, Tsitsipas, Thiem or Nishikori.
