The Sports Councilor of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Francisco Castellano, and the Segovian cyclist Thin Parakeet have given details this Thursday of the reason for their visit to the Island, in which they have shown their total willingness to compete and face the challenging race ‘Free Motion Challenge The Titanic‘, on equal terms with the rest of the participants.
During the event, in which the general director of Sports of the Canary Islands Government, Manuel López, and the president of the Insular Cycling Federation, Marta Hernández, the Councilor for Sports of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria gave the cyclist the jersey with which he will participate in the La Titánica Challenge, a test scheduled for this Saturday.
Francisco Castellano highlighted that with the collaboration of the Canary Federation and Insular de Ciclismo “we can count on the presence of Perico Delgado these days in Gran Canaria to promote grassroots sport and the participation, increasingly, of boys and girls in the world of cycling”. In addition, he pointed out “the participation of Perico Delgado in tests such as the Desafío La Titánica, which is a complement and a boost for this sporting discipline.”
Likewise, he thanked Perico Delgado for his visit and valued his professional career, highlighting “his human quality, his humility, his kindness and being a person who breaks boundaries and barriers and, above all, for continuing to give a lot to sport and, in especially to cycling ”.
Promote the sport of two wheels
For his part, Perico Delgado pointed out that “it is a pleasure to be in Gran Canaria and I thank the Sports Department for their invitation and for allowing me to spend a couple of days talking and promoting cycling, especially giving advice to the youngest ”. In addition, he stressed that “I had to pedal on this island and this time it does not escape me. What better occasion to do it than in the Titanic Challenge ”.
Finally, Manuel López expressed his gratitude to the Department of Sports for “this firm commitment for Perico Delgado to be with us this weekend”, and stressed that it is “a pleasure to share the experiences and triumphs achieved by the cyclist.”
During his visit to Gran Canaria, the Sports Minister will accompany Perico Delgado in various events, such as the meeting he will hold this Thursday afternoon with 50 children from the sports clubs. base cycling of Gran Canaria in Gáldar, where they will travel 8 kilometers through the streets of the municipality. On the morning of this Friday, from 10:00 a.m., you will collect the number with which you will participate in the Titanic Challenge at the Anfi del Mar Hotel, where the Mogán authorities will also be there. Then they will go to San Bartolomé de Tirajana, where they will be received by the authorities of the municipality and in which they will participate in a bicycle tour with adults, with departure and arrival at the Town Hall.
On Saturday, the Segovian cyclist will put on his jersey and, starting at 08:00, he will start as one more rider in the Free Motion Desafío La Titánica.
