The president of the Government, Pedro Sanchez, the Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, and the European Commissioner for the Environment, Virginijus Sinkevicius, are visiting La Palma this Friday to learn about the evolution of the volcanic eruption in Cumbre Vieja.

The working day was started by the minister, at 10.50 am, with a meeting with the Canarian councilor for Ecological Transition, José Antonio Valbuena, the president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Mariano Hernández, and the mayors of the affected municipalities.

Subsequently, he met with Ernesto Aguiar, director of the management body of the Biosphere Reserve and with the Brigades for the Reinforcement of Forest Fires (BRIF).

In the afternoon, Sánchez joined the work day with a visit to the portable desalination plants in Puerto Naos aboard a Navy ship and another on the tanker.

Sánchez and Rivera will meet with the European Commissioner for the Environment, Virginijus Sinkevicius, and will culminate their agenda with representatives of the island’s fishing sector.
