Pau Gasol, two-time Spanish NBA champion pivot, is in Murcia to be treated for his injury by Dr. Mariano De Prado at the Ripoll and De Prado Sport Clinic, Medical Center of Excellence FIFA since 2013.
The Sant Boi player announced last week the termination of his contract with the Portland Trail Blazers to continue the recovery process of a serious injury that was already operated last May, a fracture due to navicular stress in the left foot.
Although the initial recovery period was about six months, the poor evolution of the ailment has led to the Catalan player having decided to leave the Blazers squad to focus exclusively on their rehabilitation. Pau Gasol, who has not played an official NBA game since last March – when he was enrolled in the Milwaukee Bucks – is looking forward to arriving in good health at the Olympic Games that will be held in Tokyo in 2020.
The Catalan pivot, 39, could be part of the technical staff of the Portland Trail Blazers during recovery, according to various American media.
Other sports stars have passed through the Murcia clinic
Pau Gasol is not the only one who has relied on the medical center of doctors Ripoll and De Prado to treat an injury. A fracture in the fifth metatarsal of the right foot caused the players Xabi Alonso and James Rodriguez were intervened with success in Murcia, the first in 2013 and the second two years later.
