Paco Plaza shoots "Freddy", his episode of "Stories to not sleep"

Madrid, Apr 15 (EFE) .- The filmmaker Paco Plaza, creator of the "REC" saga, has begun filming "Freddy", the episode of the iconic horror series by Chicho Ibañez Serrador "Stories to not sleep", within the reinterpretation that several contemporary filmmakers are making.
Televisión Española, where Ibañez Serrador (who died in 2019) worked for a large part of his career, has reported in a statement the start of this filming that comes after the recording of "La Broma" and "El Doble", directed by Rodrigo Cortés and Rodrigo Sorogoyen, respectively.
"Freddy" will thus be the third of the four self-concluding stories that will bring back the nightmares of "Stories to not sleep", the iconic Spanish series that revolutionized the television scene of the 60s.
The episode directed by Plaza ("Verónica", 2017), who is also an expert in horror films, takes viewers to the filming of the original series forty years ago, where the ventriloquist protagonist establishes a disturbing relationship with his doll.
"André (played by Miki Esparbé) is a lousy actor about to lose his job, unable to declare himself to the woman of his dreams (Adriana Torrebejano) who, on the advice of director Chicho Ibáñez Serrador (Carlos Santos), begins to work with a mysterious ventriloquist doll who helps him shed his insecurities and take control of his destiny, unleashing a series of gruesome events that lead the filming to a point of no return.
VIS, a division of ViacomCBS Networks International, produces together with Prointel and Isla Audiovisual this adaptation for Amazon Prime Video and RTVE.
The fourth story honored in the saga will be “El Asfalto” and it will be filmed by the filmmaker Paula Ortiz ("From your window to mine", 2011; "The bride", 2015).
