The secretary of Organization and Program of We can, Pablo Echenique, has defended today the closing of the Centers of Internment of Foreigners (CIE) and has assured that it treats of "prisons" more than of centers of welcome.
In statements to the press in the framework of the 4th Federal Assembly of EQUO, which he attended today, Echenique has referred to the attempted escape last night in the Madrid CIE of Aluche, an incident in which ten national police and a internally they were injured.
"I do not know the details, but surely this kind of thing would end if we closed the CIE, which is what we defend from Podemos," said Echenique, convinced that "the CIE are not shelters, are jails."
The leader of Podemos, who has recalled how the leader of his party, Pablo Iglesias, invited the Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, to visit a CIE to verify his situation, has said that the closure of the CIE would prevent these situations from occurring "or endangering the safety of immigrants or the security forces and bodies of the State."
