The headquarters of the Archbishop’s Curia of Managua and a parish located in an exclusive residential were painted by strangers with propaganda in favor of the Government presided by Sandinista Daniel Ortega, denounced the Nicaraguan Catholic Church on Friday.
“Only Sandinismo will rescue our economy” with a ballot of the general elections scheduled for November 2021 was the graffiti they made in the Santo Domingo parish, located in the exclusive residential Las Sierritas, southeast of Managua.
While the headquarters of the Archbishop Curia was stained with graffiti with the message: “Being a Sandinista, the greatest expression of rebellion”, with an image of Ortega making the “v” sign of victory with his right hand.
BISHOP: IRRESPETUOUS PAINTINGS OF FANÁTICOS OF THE “DICTADURA”
“My repudiation of the disrespectful pints that fans of the #Nicaragua dictatorship have made in the Santo Domingo de Las Sierritas parish and the entrance of the Archbishop’s Curia of Managua. Nothing will stop the evangelizing and prophetic mission that the Church has received from Jesus.” , Nicaraguan bishop Silvio Báez wrote in a tweet.
For his part, the priest of the Santo Domingo parish, Ricardo Zambrana, denounced that the Nicaraguan Catholic Church “has been shot, invaded and stained with partisan propaganda.”
Another building that was painted was the headquarters of the Higher Council of Private Enterprise (Cosep), where they wrote legends that accused him of “coup plotters” and “patterns of unemployment.”
The head of the Cosep, José Adán Aguerri, warned that these actions do not pay to change the situation of social, political and economic crisis in which Nicaragua has been immersed since April 2018, when a social outbreak began due to an unpopular social security reform .
BEING STARTED TO HATE
“This type of actions and the narrative that incites hatred will not change our actions or stop the socioeconomic deterioration of the country,” the business leader reasoned.
Police authorities investigate these actions and so far they have not arrested any suspicion.
The opposition Citizens for Freedom party condemned what it considered “hate campaign against the Catholic Church.”
Since April 2018, Nicaragua is experiencing a socio-political crisis that has left at least 328 dead, according to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), although local bodies raise the number to 684 and the Government recognizes 200 and denounces an attempt to “coup State”.
According to the report of the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI), entity under the supervision of the IACHR, the main person responsible for the violence is the Government of Ortega, to whom it even attributes “crimes against humanity” in the midst of the crisis.
