Orchestrated neighborhoods destined to Tindouf camps for the collection of their album - La Provincia


The notes of Orchestrated neighborhoods they return on October 14 to Alfredo Kraus Auditorium to present the compositions of his last album recorded last January in the Auditorium. In this first concert, the orchestra led by the teacher José Brito, is composed of music students of this social program which aims to give musical training to children and young people from underprivileged neighborhoods. "A work that we have always supported from the Auditorium and that has all our admiration, in fact the record is recorded in the Auditorium," explained Tilman Kuttenkeuler.

This record work, in which the teachers of Barrios Orquestados and different artists of the Canarian music scene have participated, has the support of the Auditorium and Theater Foundation of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. As usual, the initiative has a strong solidarity character and, in this occasion, the collection will be destined, mainly, to help the refugees of the camps of Tinduf; besides serving for the consolidation of the project of Orchestrated Neighborhoods in Gran Canaria. The reach of Orchestrated Neighborhoods is growing and we are reaching more families. The album is the culmination of the work that teachers and students are doing with great enthusiasm, added José Brito, director of Orchestrated Neighborhoods.

Some of the artists that have participated are Fabiola Socas, Andrés Molina, Arístides Moreno, Ginés Cedrés, Iván Torres, Ade dá Costa, Marta Solís, Nayaban Jean, David Roma, Domingo Rodríguez the Colorao and Juan Carlos Pérez. In addition, in some of the compositions the students of the choral program participate Enchanted neighborhoods. The arrangements have been made by composers Marcos Pulido, Carlos Vega, Manolo Bonino, David Másperi and José Brito, conductor of the orchestra.

The second meeting with Barrios Orquestados will take place on November 18 at 7:00 p.m. On this occasion, it is the charity concert at the end of the season, in which students will have the opportunity to show us the work done during the classes, the effort and the progression they have experienced. This concert, which also has the collaboration of the Auditorium and Theater Foundation, will have as special guests the rocker Said Muti and the singer Marta Solís.

Orchestrated neighborhoods is not only a pedagogical project for artistic purposes, but a pedagogical social project to create rubbed-string orchestras (violins, violas, cellos and double basses) in all the peripheral neighborhoods of the islands of the Archipelago that have special needs at the social and cultural

Imagined by the musician José Brito, the initiative has already reached many children in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote. The objective of this project is to make culture accessible through music to all sectors of society and, especially, to those who are less well served.

The project, which began in 2012, has grown over these years, spreading to more and more neighborhoods; In fact, the program already serves 380 students and 230 family members, who each day receive music training free of charge and without having to purchase an instrument as the organization provides it as a loan.

This year, Barrios Orquestados has made its first international leap and, together with the NGOs ACOES and Canarias with Honduras, has arrived in Honduras, where for two weeks, a team of 6 professionals trained young volunteers and worked with a large group of children and their families, with the intention of continuing the activity in this Central American country. The initiative started with the charity concerts Verdi Esperanza, which took place at the Pérez Galdós Theater in 2017 and Macondo, held at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium last May.
