The Monte do Gozo in Santiago de Compostela will once again host the second edition of the O Son do Camiño Festival, which will take place on June 13, 14 and 15 in the Galician capital. The musical event will bring together great stars of the international and national scene such as Black Eyed Peas, Iggy Pop, David Guetta, Die Antwoord -which will be his only date this year in Spain-, Vetusta Morla or Rosalia – the artist of the moment.
The poster of the festival was presented this Friday by Román Rodríguez, Conselleiro de Cultura y Turismo; Víctor Mantiñán, responsible for musical sponsorships of Estrella Galicia and Carlos Rodríguez, Iván Méndez and David Méndez, promoters of the event. Precisely their managers also announced other big names for this year's programming as they are Bastille, Bloc Party – they will play in their entirety Silent Alarm, his acclaimed debut – Richard Ashcroft or Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike – the second best Djs in the world according to the renowned DJ Mag ranking–.
The poster of O Son do Camiño is completed by fifteen artists of many styles: The Hives, W & W, Beret, Ajax and Prok, Graveyard, Royal Republic, Bad Gyal, Second, Varry Brava, ELYELLA, Shinova, Full, Kitai, Molina Molina, Alice Wonder and Cariño. In addition, at the top of Santiago you can enjoy a large representation of Galician: Iván Ferreiro, Eme Dj, Hard GZ, Igloo, Moderm, Marem Ladson, Baiuca, Caamagno Family and Nettle.
O Son do Camiño, which in its first edition attracted 84,000 attendees, became one of the great cultural events of 2018, as well as being the first Spanish festival to exhaust the tickets available on the day of sale and on little more than 2 hours.
This year the festival will have two stages, restoration area, VIP area and camping. O Son do Camiño will offer two options for sleeping next to the enclosure: a normal rest area and a glamping. Both are paid and will be equipped with all services (showers, cafeteria, luggage storage, security and charging points for mobile devices). Its sale will be activated in the coming days.
For its part, tickets to attend O Son do Camiño 2019 will be purchased on Wednesday, February 27 from 12.00. in the festival website and in Eventbrite with a special launch price of 49 euros plus management expenses. An amount that will increase as the season tickets and the different sections of sale are exhausted, and which may reach a maximum price of 95 euros (plus management expenses).
The event premiered in 2018 "with the aim of promoting the image of the community in the international arena" through one of its main tourist and cultural assets: the Camino de Santiago. The festival is sponsored by the Xunta de Galicia and has the collaboration of Estrella Galicia.
For the organizers this event "is an opportunity to spread the values and local talent", in fact, 25% of the advertised artists are Galician. In addition to serving to "strengthen the Galician business fabric" –more than 850 jobs generated and 83% of Galician suppliers from all sectors– and to "encourage public-private collaboration with the development of a cultural program in a joint and coordinated manner".
In total, O Son do Camiño caused an impact of more than thirteen million euros in its first edition. In addition, hotel occupancy during the last edition was 100% in Santiago de Compostela and area of influence and is currently 93%. But among the many figures that summarize the good premiere of the festival highlights one: 53% of attendees came from outside Galicia.
