“Not all priority groups were set for vaccination because the situation is changing”

Federico de Montalvo Jääskeläinen is president of the Bioethics Committee of Spain and as such one of the authors of the national vaccination strategy against COVID-19, together with experts from the Ministry of Health, the communities, and also external experts like him in vaccinology, public health or public opinion. It is a work that began in September and that continues and will continue as long as there is a population to be immunized and supplies continue to arrive. They have recently faced the decision not to give the AstraZeneca vaccine to older people, something that a few months ago we did not have. The first big one was, in December, that the campaign would begin with users of residences, toilets and large dependents. Then, it would continue for those over 80 years old. The also professor of Law at the University of Comillas and director of the CID-ICADE responds by phone to elDiario.es in a gap left by his tasks, especially the debate and resolution process and on some conflicts at the international level.
